I camped at Babyfoot Lake trailhead on the Josephine/Curry County line last
night. It is 14 miles off Hwy 199 (10 miles of gravel) out of Cave Junction.
I and heard a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL and NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL on the way up and
heard a COMMON POORWILL on the Curry County side.
This morning I birded the Babyfoot Lake Trail and the Kalmiopsis Rim Trail on
the Curry County side. Highlights were 3 WHITE BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 3 ACORN
WOODPECKERS, and a single GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE. See eBird for full checklists.
Good birding,
