Terry Wahl reports a TROPICAL KINGBIRD on the lower family ranch near Cape
Blanco, Curry. On the upper ranch in the hills east of there the ROCK WREN
continues at the old quarry, there are two SAY’S PHOEBES overwintering, and
also a Barred Owl.
At Johnson Mill Pond County Park near Coquille, Coos this afternoon there
were lots of Wigeon including 13 male EURASIANS. Also three OC WARBLERS and
just a single Swamp Sparrow. I saw two of the five (at least five) TURKEY
VULTURES that are wintering in the valley also. No Redhead at the pond I
could find today, Nicole Koeltzow found one on Saturday that several of us
saw this weekend (a good CBC bird).
Oh yesterday an adult male BARROWS GOLDENEYE was off the Empire area of
Coos Bay. Probably the same male that was here last winter. They are not
regular on the south coast so we get a little excited when they stop in 😊
