Adding to Daniel's sitings, we weren't counting either but the sheer number of birds moving yesterday and today has been impressive. Large flocks of geese, cormorants, gulls, and terns moving north. Shorebirds in very good numbers and variety moving. Yesterday we had at least 40 SB DOWITCHERS at Coos Bay North Spit, flocks of GREATER YELLOWLEGS flying over our house, and today all sorts of shorebirds moving up New River. Also large number of sparrows scattered along Floras Lake Road in Curry Cty. A couple of PEREGRINE FALCONS today and a MERLIN yesterday. Also RUFOUS HUMMERINGBIRDS flying by us on the beach all morning. PIPITS too.

Cheers

Obol,
At 11AM there was an apparent ROSS'S GOOSE heading north with around 30-40 CACKLING GEESE at Sutton beach, Lane county. It was as small as the Cacklers and had a smallish bill. Since it was a flyover could not see the bill pattern. There was also a flock of 20-30 G. WHITE-FRONTED GEESE heading north.

Further down the beach, between Berry and Sutton creeks, there were many hundreds of shorebirds. Birding was not our primary purpose so we did not have time to count but some highlights were a MARBLED GODWIT, a BLACKTURNSTONE, and nice concentration of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. The first big push we have seen this spring.
