Obol,
At 11AM there was an apparent ROSS'S GOOSE heading north with around
30-40 CACKLING GEESE at Sutton beach, Lane county. It was as small as the
Cacklers and had a smallish bill. Since it was a flyover could not see the
bill pattern. There was also a flock of 20-30 G. WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
heading north.
Further down the beach, between Berry and Sutton creeks, there were many
hundreds of shorebirds. Birding was not our primary purpose so we did not
have time to count but some highlights were a MARBLED GODWIT, a
BLACKTURNSTONE, and nice concentration of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. The first
big push we have seen this spring.
