Hello All,
I guess this is kind of off topic since these are not rare birds, however a
FOX SPARROW showed up in the garden 3 days ago. Yesterday a Junco with that
egg-shaped white ring-around-the-bathtub look of a SLATE-COLORED JUNCO showed
up. Today a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET showed up. All I am missing is a VARIED
THRUSH. Come to think of it, one passed through early last week after gorging
on choke cherries. I will keep my fingers crossed for a Mountain Chickadee or
two...It happens in my garden every three or four years.
These species are my cold weather yard birds. I really do not need the local
news to know it has been snowing in the Cascades. Very pleased to see these
birds, I was afraid they would skip my garden since the neighbors have been
removing trees, hedges and thinning their large evergreens the last couple
years.
