I had an intriguing shorebird call overhead today also- dang! Interesting you saw the terns and they have been absent off and on, I bet they are offshore fishing part of the time, that is often the case on the south coast. Merry migration! The Elegant Terns were still at the Hammond Boat Basin ( also Lee Cain). A Purple Martin was flying around there as well. At the South Jetty of the Columbia River three Lesser Yellowlegs flew by accompanied a Stilt Sandpiper. One Greater Yellowlegs was on the ground there. The intriguing calls of a shorebird of uncertain identity were heard as it passed over us.
