While I feel bad for an injured bird I find this somehow hilarious when it
comes to us birders. The Masked/Nazca Booby that was found in Newport
(must have been injured on a fishing boat and rode boat into harbor?)
anyhow, however it got to Newport it was flown down to So Cal and
released. A Masked /Nazca Booby has created a stir in San Diego. Paul L
noted it was banded and put two and two together and figured it was the
Oregon bird, last I read the booby was spotted riding a lobster boat in
towards a harbor. Birders are trying to locate the boat;s dock via its hull
number. Apparently it is a countable bird. I hope the booby is okay, but
you can't write comedy better than this. Seems the booby has found ways to
travel thousands of miles without a wing flap while being chased by folks
with binoculars.
I hope the bird is feeling okay and just flaps off into the night.
