The Blue Birds on the coast thread reminded me of some ancient history.
Salem Audubon, with BLM cooperation, ran a nest box utilization study in
clear cuts from 1997-1999. Several cuts were on Lindsey ridge, which
overlooks the coast and Lincoln City, with access just west of Rose Lodge.
Although the sites were subject to storms and wind, we had nesting Blue
Birds. So, it should not be unusual that their roaming in the
non-breeding season would include lower altitude city areas near the ocean.
