Yesterday, I watched the Queen Eider for an hour then headed to Depoe Bay around high tide to see if I could locate the Rock Sandpiper reported the previous day by Andy Frank. I did not locate the Rock Sandpiper, but my search ended when I got distracted by the Black Oystercatcher flock that was roosting at high tide just south of the spouting horn. I counted a minimum of 34 birds. A lot of resting and preening going on.
