For those not on my Barn Owl list: the owlets have fledged. Happily, they are hanging out at night in the oak tree next to our shop, begging and crashing about from limb to limb. They're fun to watch but don't fly in until dusk, which is about 9:40. Tonight they got so excited when a parent bird arrived with supper that two (of the four) fell out of the tree.

If anyone wants to come watch, call first to make sure they're still performing... one of these days they'll surely fly off on their own. Plus I need to keep the big white dog locked up until after everyone leaves. You would have to be here to get set up no later than 9:30 (9:15 would be better) before the adult flies in. She has a screaming fit if people are moving around near her children. We can set up chairs against the house or woodshed where she might not notice... or worry. Another possibility is to just sit in your car with the windows down so you can hear the commotion.

A possibly preferable option is to wait and see if they have a second clutch that would fledge when the days are shorter and dusk comes earlier...
