Hi all,
A friend in Yamhill County who frequently pilots hot-air balloons has an
interesting observation:
As they're landing balloons, frequently swallows (especially Barn Swallows)
come in to swarm the balloons. She has a video clip that shows this, which I'll
try to share once I figure out how. She says that they don't see this
phenomenon when they're lifting off, though they usually do that close to dawn
when swallows might not yet be active.
The question is, what would draw swallows in to a balloon like this? I have a
couple of ideas but interested to hear what other ideas folks might have.
Thanks,
Joel
