Finding Black-vented Shearwaters at Brookings today was no day at the beach.
After seawatches from several vantage points, we finally had four birds come in
to a feeding flock off McVay Rock State Rec. Area along Oceanview Dr. south of
the Chetco River.
At Chetco Point early this morning we did our first seawatch with Stefan
Schlick. He spotted a Mountain Chickadee that perched nicely in the farthest
out tree allowing for nice photos. Still good numbers of Elegant Terns around.
Nothing else earthshaking to report, but we did have two White-throated
Sparrows in the stringer of alders along the south edge of the park at McVay
Rock.
