Hello OBOL…
Earlier today I made something of a faux pas when sharing a link to a petition
regarding the Malheur occupation… Honestly I have not been following the goings
on here on OBOL that closely. I usually scan the list for birds of interest or
local posting, and pretty much skip over the rest… There have been many posts
with titles mentioning the Malheur occupation… But I didn’t realize there must
have been a terrible conflict that I wasn’t aware of. I didn’t even know we had
lost our moderator… I thought that a petition was a safe, legal, non-aggressive
means to a peaceful resolution…
Anyway… Whatever the reasons, I broke the rules… The point I want to make is
that I really appreciate the responses from everyone… Both those who were happy
that I shared the link and those who were not… Especially those who were not,
because even though they were unhappy with my behavior every one of them was
very respectful… Thank you for responding with respect. I think this is
especially note worthy in light of the fact that there has been some sort of
“mayhem” and/or heated conflict here. It shows a willingness for everyone to
work together to make the list a great place for Oregon Birders!
