I think what he means is that the characters which nvda cannot read are in fact grapics on the page, in much the same way as you see some equations and screenshots.

Hi. What does the OCR add-on actually do? I mean is it similar to Kurzweil & ABBYY Fine Reader? Why and how would one want to scan a webpage? I mean how can convert electronic text [contents of the webpage] into electronic text [scanned results]? I can't figure out where this could come in useful.
