The clipboard isn't monitored in an infinite loop, it is only compared when
a clipboard-based key combination is pressed.
I will bear your suggestion in mind though, in case I do decide to work with
the clipboard on a constant monitoring basis.

Monitoring the clipboard in an infinite loop isn't a good idea. It
would probably be much better to create a hidden window to act as a
clipboard listener. See the AddClipboardFormatListener function on MSDN
