James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park! On Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 9 am to 1 pm, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) student chapter at the University of Maryland will be hosting Discover Engineering, an event for high school students interested in engineering, math, and the sciences. Participants in this event will be able to talk to college engineering students, meet a professional engineer, and be involved in a team engineering-related activity. Thanks to our corporate sponsors, there is no cost to participants, and a free breakfast and lunch will be provided. Parents are welcome to attend this event as well. Maryland Day, a campus-wide all day event at the University of Maryland, is held on the same day as Discover Engineering. On Maryland Day, each department showcases their programs to the public. After our program, students will have plenty of time to explore the other displays and activities on campus if they wish. For more information on Maryland Day, please visit http://www.marylandday.umd.edu <http://www.marylandday.umd.edu/> . Attached is the 2014 flyer for Discover Engineering. Please feel free to make photocopies for any interested students. Students may register for this event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/discover-engineering-2015-at-university-of-maryland-tickets-14363145555. Students who register will receive more information as the event approaches. SWE is dedicated to encouraging high school students to explore the opportunities in engineering fields. SWE at UMCP is a student-run organization that provides a support network for females in engineering. College students involved in SWE participate in outreach programs, job recruiting events, and social functions. Thank you for encouraging your students to take advantage of this opportunity! If you or your students have any questions, please feel free to contact SWE at discover.engineering@xxxxxxxxx. Sincerely, April Claus DE Director and Vice President, SWE Student Section
