Seeks Associate Director of Programs
ACS is seeking an experienced, versatile and energetic Associate Director of
Programs to play a vital role in coordinating and facilitating ACS's rapidly
expanding output of innovative, highly relevant substantive legal and public
policy work.
The new Associate Director will work with existing Programs staff to:
* Assist in coordinating the substantive work of ACS's multi-year effort to
promote a progressive vision of the Constitution by engaging constitutional
scholars, hands-on practitioners, public interest advocates, public officials
and law students in the thinking necessary to formulate and advance a
progressive vision that is intellectually sound, practically relevant, and
faithful to our constitutional values and heritage;
* Facilitate the work of a diverse array of Issue Groups made up of leading
lawyers, academics and advocates;
* Assist in ensuring that ACS's various substantive initiatives develop and
proceed in a complementary fashion;
* Maintain relations with public interest advocates, academics,
policymakers, and private practitioners;
* Work with authors writing policy papers for ACS and edit those papers;
* Edit publications; and
* Assist in conference and program planning.
The ideal candidate will be:
* Familiar with constitutional and other legal scholarship;
* Versed in civil rights, civil liberties and other constitutional issues;
* Knowledgeable about the courts, and the nominations and public policy
process.
* Minimum three years of relevant experience is desired, as are outstanding
analytical and writing skills and strong interpersonal skills. Capitol Hill
and/or executive branch experience is a plus.
