HU MSEIP Program for High School Students

The Howard University Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (HU
MSEIP) is hosting its second annual summer camp from June 20 - July 15, 2010.
Please encourage rising seniors, students who will be classified as seniors in
the 2010-11 school year, to consider applying to take advantage of this
opportunity to participate in this program. The uniqueness of the program is
based on the continual engagement in web based research throughout the academic
year with the guidance of research mentors. HU MSEIP will host this program
with the intention of providing high school students an opportunity to explore
the sciences, engineering, and mathematics.

One of the major goals of the HU MSEIP is to provide broad exposure and
training for high school students in technology, communication, and team work.
Over the course of the four-week program, students will be engaged in classroom
lectures, research activities, field experiments, tours of research facilities,
participate in symposiums and seminars that expand their knowledge of current
technology in science and engineering, and communication skills. Additionally,
students will receive exposure to the college experience through their stay in
a university dormitory, interactions with Engineering/Science faculty and
graduate students, and use of campus computational and academic facilities.
Students accepted into the program will be required to engage in research
activities using web-based resources on the completion of the summer program.

Except for the cost of transportation, the attendance of the program is free
for all admitted students. As a residential program students will be housed on
Howard University's campus for the duration of the program. A monetary award
will be given to students who demonstrate promise of achieving the goals of HU
MSEIP. Please visit www.howard.edu/mseip<http://www.howard.edu/mseip> for an
application form and other information on the HU MSEIP. For additional
information about the program, please contact Emmanuel Glakpe, Professor of
Mechanical Engineering on (202) 806-7741 or by e-mail:
