I look forward to seeing you tonight and wish to remind the women we will
have a *sectional after, from 8:20-9.*
I plan to focus on *Northern Lights (Pulchra Es*) and the *Promise of
Living *and review a number of the other pieces.
Thanks Sue, for your enthusiasm and research. The NY times article and
Wikipedia are great sources, yet they come through the perspective of the
writer.Taking that into consideration, it's important for us to find ways
to interpret poetry as relevant to our experience and also pulls up the
work to its highest aesthetic potential. This exerpt from the the article
is a wonderful synopsis of her work,"it becomes increasingly evident that a
large number of Swenson's radiant nature poems are also love poems. Her
shaped verses, elaborately designed spacing and quasi-mathematical forms
are love letters to Creation itself.
I've attached a guide which might help us understand the complexities and
depth of what engaging on several levels with a work of art involves.
Perhaps we can explore some of these individually and as a group.
