Fellow Scouters: In my last Roundtable Reminder, I stated that the April Roundtable would include a presentation on the new BSA Tour Plan forms. The day after I sent out that Reminder, I received a reply from Malita, stating that National has been making some changes to the Tour Plan, and will be putting out a new training video on such at the beginning of May. Which means that, whatever information I'd already found, and would have presented in April, might end up being obsolete as of May. I also received an e-mail from Roy Breede, our Northern Trail Training Chairperson, that he wants to offer some additional training during Roundtable meetings. I just received the details on that training. This information will be included in next month's Roundtable Reminder, but, since we're changing the programs we'd advertised, I wanted to get this out to everyone as soon as possible. So, the following are changes to the previous Roundtable Reminder: ****NEXT MONTH'S [APRIL] ROUNDTABLE**** The APRIL 12 ROUNDTABLE will offer two different programs. There will be a PRESENTATION ON ORDER OF THE ARROW [OA], which is an organization, within the BSA, for Boy Scouts and Boy Scout Leaders. We'll be providing information on what it is, what it does, why your Troop should be involved, &etc. For those leaders who aren't currently interested in OA, we'll be showing you how to make SURVIVAL BRACELETS, which you can then teach to your Scouts. The OA presentation will probably be of interest mainly to Boy Scout Leaders, and the Survival Bracelets mainly to Cub Scout Leaders, however, you may attend either presentation you wish. ****ADDITIONAL APRIL TRAINING PROGRAM**** Roy Breede, our Northern Trail District Training Chair, is going to be offering some additional training. This is a new program, that will be held at the same time and location as Roundtable, but probably somewhere 'slightly down the hall' :-) . The first of these, which will be conducted during the April Roundtable will be: Scouts with ADHD, Tips for Leaders, which presents ideas and methods of keeping scouts with ADHD interested and involved with unit activities and advancements. Also included is Bullying Tips for Leaders which presents ideas and policies regarding bullying and how to deal with instances of bullying involving scouts. For more information on this training, please contact Roy Breede, roy_breede@xxxxxxxxx . _________________________________________________________________________ __________________ ****MAY'S ROUNDTABLE**** The MAY 10 ROUNDTABLE will be a PROGRAM KICKOFF PRESENTATION. This presentation will cover the Council and District resources that are available to individual units. We'll cover such things as recruitment, camping, facilities, fundraising, &etc. You'll learn what Council and District have to offer, that can help your unit deliver a quality Scouting Program. NOTE: For those who were interested in the new TOUR PERMIT INFORMATION, that was originally planned for April: we're hoping to have some of the 'NEW' new Tour Permit Information available at this meeting. The better your program, the more Scouts you'll get, the more Scouts you'll retain, and the more fun you'll all have. Even if you've already got a great unit program, join us for this presentation. You just might learn something that could make your program even better. ****ADDITIONAL MAY TRAINING PROGRAM**** The Additional Training for May will be: Troop Leadership Training, which prepares Scoutmasters to present formal training to the boy leaders of the troop. It covers the three modules of training and how to prepare and present the training to the boys. This will be held at the same time and location as Roundtable. For more information on this training, please contact Roy Breede, roy_breede@xxxxxxxxx . _________________________________________________________________________ __________________ For more information on ROUNDTABLE, please contact either: Rick Franzen, Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner, boyscoutrtc@xxxxxxxxx , OR Mary LaVaque, Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, mdaisy2017@xxxxxxxxx . _________________________________________________________________________ __________________ Yours in Scouting, Rick Franzen Northern Trail District Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner
