These are all old kits and in my view worth next to nothing. Most carry the
legend Canterbury Model Shop, Butchery Lane which shows you how old they are.
One kit clearly had bits missing but none of the boxes was sealed and so could
well be incomplete. If we hadn't taken them off her hands (which we felt
obliged to do as she had taken the trouble to bring them to the field) Mrs
Fagg's next port of call would have been the rubbish tip which is where I
suspect most will end up anyway.
Yes, a few appealed to members who happened to be at the field today, and the
rest, as you know, I took for safekeeping. Not selfishness as you describe it
- simply a practical way forward given the circumstances, especially the age
and nature of the kits. But I can understand why you think things should be
done differently. I'll speak to John and Bryan and let everybody know how
we'll make them available to all members.

I understand from Basil that today the field had a visitor bearing gifts.
The widow of an ex-Canterbury member (Roger Fagg?) took the trouble of
bringing a car load of untouched kits (6-8) for distribution to "those that
wanted them"
Those present then selfishly proceeded to "cherry-pick" the kits they wanted
without a thought for other club members who were not fortunate enough to be
on the field at the time.
It must be fairly obvious that the kind-hearted lady thought the club would
benefit as a whole.
In my opinion, to be fair to all members, the kits should have been set aside
for auction at the AGM (or EGM), with proceeds going into club funds. That way
everybody has a chance at selecting a kit, paying a fair price and the other
members benefit as well by virtue of the swelled funds. If unsold at auction,
then they can be picked, for others have had fair warning.
I call upon those who "grabbed" one (or more!) of the kits to return them to
club officers so that their worth can be realised for the good of all.
And not the selfish. Shame on you. If that is what club "mates" do, then I'm
not sure I wish to be associated with them.
