TAKOMA STORMWATER SOLUTIONS: NEW PARTNERSHIPS
Tuesday, September 27th at 7 pm
Climate Change has diminished Mother Nature's ability to handle increasingly heavy storms.
Because local governments often can't and won't adequately protect residents and businesses threatened by stormwater, it's becoming imperative to embrace new partnerships in the search for creative responses to flooding threats.
We'll showcase how Takoma Park resident, Margaret Bowman, worked with neighbors to build a rain garden in county-owned Opal Daniels Park, delivering environmental and social benefits to their neighborhood.
Then we'll hear from Julie Greenberg of Somerset, MD, who will describe how she and dozens of her neighbors convinced their town government to prepare for more acute flooding in coming years.
