For the last two days (Wednesday and Thursday), my daily mail was left on
my porch. Fortunately, it was not raining or windy. Fortunately, nothing
seems to be missing. Legal documents, New Yorker--all there.
I have no idea what is happening. Did my mail get misdelivered and the
unfortunate but well-meaning recipient attempt to deliver it to its
rightful owner? If so, PLEASE use the mail slot. That's what it's there
for.
If the mail carrier, whether substitute or otherwise, chose to leave my
mail lying on the front porch, where weather can damage it or anyone can
take it, I don't even know what to say. It cannot be legal.
At this point, I feel nervous about going away for more than a few hours.
I guess I'll see what happens to my mail today. Has this happened to
anyone else? Other thoughts?
