Thanks for the confirmation. I can't believe how little
interest there seems to be in this! When port 8000 became
unblocked, everyone on the lists was talking about it and
using it. This is much easier, faster and more reliable.
My interest is really in how long it has been like that and
whether there are some places it doesn't work
I also want to be sure at least a few people were using it so
we will know when/if they block it again.
I don't get to test very often, so please post when/if it
stops working.
If anyone knows this was working prior to my first post (a
few weeks back), I'd like to hear about that too.
I'm interested in determining whether this is a mistake or a
policy relaxation by Etisalat. As soon as people start using
it, ETC will be forced to complete the job, or ignore it.

And yes, it didn't work before - that's why I posted the
original message.

Good question.
All I know is that they have a transparent proxy there, all
ready to link to the censoring database, but that last step
hasn't been done. It's probably that they aren't quite ready
yet.
