On my way to work this morning I stopped by a wet field that sometimes
holds migrating shorebirds if the conditions are right. In addition to a
dozen or so greater yellowlegs there was a single black-necked stilt. The
site is close to both Dameron Marsh NAP and Hughlett Point NAP in lower
Northumberland County, Northern Neck.
It's private property with restricted access but anyone wishing to try for
it is welcome to get in touch via email. I intend to check on it again
after 5.
