NH Prescribed Fire Council,
Ben has started his compilation of 2014 & 2015 prescribed burns in earnest. He
is not on the Rx fire list yet and asked me to forward this request to all of
you. In short, if you have not done so already (we already reached out to our
Federal friends), would you please fill out the attached survey indicating the
burns that you have done in the state in 2014 & 2015?

NH Prescribed Fire Council friends, state & federal partners,
My name is Benjamin Kaufhold I am a forestry student at UNH and an intern
working for Cooperative Extension, working with Andy Fast, the Division of
Forests and Lands, and all of you to compile a complete data set of all
non-brush pile (broadcast) or prescription burns throughout the state in 2014 &
2015.
Due to the diverse use of fire as land management, agricultural and training
tool, and the wide array of agencies operating in the state, there is no
overarching body that has produced a compilation of the broadcast/prescribed
burning activity in the state. With your help we can complete NH's first
baseline prescribed fire data set.
The information gathered will be used to help fire departments, local, state
and federal agencies understand the amount and types of prescribed burning in
our state, further fire related research and be used to inform fire, forestry
and land use regulations and legislation.
Would you kindly fill out this survey at your earliest convenience, if you have
not done so already. If you have had multiple burns, you may find it easiest
to provide them all on one survey response form using the table on the second
page of the survey (see attached) rather than filling out a survey sheet for
each individual burn.
