Hi all,

first, as an addendum to kathie's request, I suggest stating whether you
are using iphone or android, and whether or not you use your device's
speech output to help navigate the apps. the ideal app for a low-vision
app may be useless to a blind user if it is not well supported by the
speech assistant. so far, aMy, Marie and Randy all use iPhone.

I'm low vision using Android 4.4.

1. Business Calendar Pro - very configurable alternative to Google calendar.
Supports all Google calendar functions, but the appearance and widgets
   are much more configurable.
2. Swiftkey keyboard - replaces the standard keyboard. Button colors are
customizable to increase contrast and improve readability for the vi,
and key size and spacing can be increased for easier navigation with
   fewer typos.
3. doubleTwist Media Player - Plays videos, music, podcasts, internet
radio, and some more obscure audio formats. Navigation is simple,
and you can use the widget to play your songs in the background
    while you do other things.
4. RealCalc calculator - Has high contrast, easy to read buttons and
display.
It supports memory and scientific modes if you need them, and offers
haptic feedback while typing to confirm button presses.
5. ColorNote Notepad - Can make notes or lists. Notes can become sticky
notes
on your home screen. Lists can have items crossed off or be time-based
like a
to-do list. Colors and text sizes are customizable to your preferences.
All
notes and lists can be easily set to auto-sync to your Google account.

Lastly, because I run a business:

6. Square Register - credit card reader. Easy setup and navigation,
supports
iPhone and Android, and is the least expensive app of its kind.

Regards,

Paul

Subject: [nhab-tech] Apps

Good afternoon all,
I was wondering if all of you would email me their favorite five apps that
they couldn't live without. I am trying to put together a list that I can
give the clients that will get them started for the Android and IPhone. As
you all know the list could be endless, so by having the top five for each
device I can also become proficient in those and help people to set up their
phone then they can look for others.
Thank you, you are my teachers.
