About CDP and GRI Collaboration
The Financial Service Authority’s Regulation on sustainablefinance (POJK
51/POJK.03/2017) requires financial institutions and publiclisted companies to
publish their sustainability reports annually. Thesereports must disclose
economic, social, and environmental impacts, along withthe corporate strategies
in addressing the negative impacts and increasingtheir contributions to the
positive impacts. In addition to this regulation, the Ministry of Planning and
Development (BAPPENAS), through its SDGs Secretariat, intends to utilize
corporate sustainability reports to measure private sectorcontributions to the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and report them inVoluntary National
Review (VNR) at the United National High Level Panel Forum(UN-HLPF) meeting
annually.
Responding to this regulatory landscape,CDP and GRI have delivered a series of
capacity building to increase thecapacity of the companies to address POJK 51
using international reportingstandards and frameworks, particularly CDP-aligned
TCFD and the GRI Standards, and to align them with the relevant SDG targets and
indicators. Through thiscapacity building, it is expected that companies would
increasingly followthose international standards and continuously improve the
quality of disclosure.Nevertheless, a lack of clear and practical guidelines on
aligning all thoseframeworks/standards together remains the main challenge for
Indonesiancompanies that are still in their nascent phase of reporting.
This collaboration aims to produce a practicaltoolkit that aligns POJK 51, CDP
questionnaires, the GRI Standards, and SDGs.The toolkit will also provide
step-by-step guidelines and examples for all theenvironmental aspects required
by the POJK 51 and intend to increase thequality of their environmental
disclosure in the following reporting periods.
