Seymour High School Hosts The Perfect Prom

Seymour, Indiana and Newbury, Florida - May 13 /Xpress Press/ - Every spring
high schools across the nation hold proms for their students. For many, this
is
the last major social event before graduation. For the kids at Seymour High
School in Seymour, Indiana it was a night of fun, friends, and memories and
it
was The Perfect Prom. Jessica Karshner, a senior at Seymour High School
entered
and won the Win The Perfect Prom Sweepstakes, which changed her prom plans
dramatically. Ms. Karshner won $1500.00 for her personal prom expenses and the

use of an SUV limo for the night of prom. In addition, she won $20,000 for her

school's prom expenses, and the promoters of the Sweepstakes brought in Arista
Recording artists Wakefield for a live concert at the end of the evening.

The Win The Perfect Prom Sweepstakes was an awareness promotion sponsored by
the
United States Air Force to bring awareness to the problem of underage
drinking.
From the beginning of the Sweepstakes through the actual conduct of The
Perfect
Prom students were constantly exposed to a simple, but important message.
"Getting this message across without boring them or preaching to them was the
idea," said Master Sergeant Juan C. Demiranda, Advertising Account Executive
for
the Air Force Recruiting Service. "That's why we settled on this simple
message: Be Safe, Be Smart, Be Sober . . . MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE®, a mantra
that
hundreds of thousands of students were exposed to during the campaign."

Promotional materials for the Sweepstakes were sent to over 12,000 high school
prom coordinators across the country imprinted with this simple mantra. During

a three-month period, over 750,000 hits were registered on the Sweepstakes
pages
of www.perfectproms.com where the Be Safe, Be Smart, Be Sober . . . MAKE THE
RIGHT CHOICE® mantra adorned each page. The winner was drawn at random from
over 97,000 entries made online at the Perfect Proms web site.

From the lavish decorations, to the professional commercial-concert-quality
performance by Wakefield, the Seymour High School prom was perfect. "Winning
this Sweepstakes allowed us to make "Paris Nights" (their prom theme) into a
reality that rivaled a movie set," beamed Marsha Jones, Prom Advisor to the
Junior Class Seymour High School. "The decorations, the DJ, refreshments,
Wakefield, and the added participation of local Air Force Recruiters made our
prom perfect!"

"The concert was the high point of the evening and The Perfect Prom was
certainly the high point of this campaign," remarked Master Sergeant
Demiranda.
"Getting millions of repeat exposures to this important message was the most
important. As long as alcohol related automobile deaths remain a leading
killer
of young people in this country, the need to remind them to Be Safe, Be Smart,
Be Sober . . . MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE® will always be there, especially during
prom when young people are so much at risk."
