There are hundreds of species from which to choose when deciding how to
adorn your homes interior with foliage. Getting them through the door is
not the problemtaking care of them is. We often discard that handy little
plastic stake that gives us a thorough description of our plant and what
it needs to survive. Below are descriptions of the ten most common house
plants:
.
Ivy: Rich and full. Small, star-shaped leaves and vines that tend to hug
the items around them.
.
Fichus/Fig Tree: Tall, with slim trunk. Are often top heavy. Small, dark
green leaves that grow quickly and drop off when adjusting to new
environments.
.
Croton: One of the most eye-catching houseplants. Leaves can range in
color from orange to yellow to pink. Long, waxy leaves and a stout trunk.
.
Spider Plant: Reproduces quickly. Thin, solid green leaves, sometimes
with a central white stripe. Foliage grows in small, spider-like bunches.
Root system is largevery hearty plant.

Kentia Palm: Sparse, widely fanned leaves, very elegant. Long-lasting and
tolerant of low lighting.

Peace Lily: Large, waxy leaves, low bush. Single white lilies sprout high
from the top singularly.

Dumb Cane: Tall (sometimes 6ft.) with dark, thick green leaves lined in
white. SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SMALL CHILDREN. Sap is poisonous.
