Dear Gang,

Is there any teacher in the vicinity of WRHS in Holden, MA, who can help this student out? I have tried several faculty at WPI and have not had any success.

If you can help Sean, please e-mail him directly and cc me.

Thank you!

Laddie

Subject: High school student in need of lab space

Dear Professor Berka,

My name is Sean Dowd and I am a junior at Wachusett Region High
School, currently in the honors chemistry program. My teacher is
Nicholas Guerin. For participation in this class it is a requirement
to complete a year long research and experimentation project. I have
chosen to do my experiment on the effects of varying amounts of iodine
on the speed of production of aluminum isopropoxide. I have been told
that I cannot carry out this experiment at Wachusett because of the
extended time the iodine needs to catalyze the reaction as well as the
experiment's instability if not carried out properly. However, to
carry out this experiment, I need a laboratory with access to certain
apparatus and a few vital chemicals. I would like to know if there was
any way I could use WPI facilities for my chemistry project. If
not, do you know anywhere else I could investigate for this
possibility?

Thank You,
Sean Dowd
