OoC:

This is a post from Jonathon. For you newer players, we've had this issue
before with Jonathon's email, and a couple of us computer geeks have been
scratching our heads and trying to discover why it's inserting those =20's.

Like the occurrence of the TNG "47," I suppose the Jaav E'thexx =20's will
simply be part of the Vanguard's roleplaying from time to time.

It was otherwise a very good post. And, yes, Jonathon, I've lost long posts to
the World Wide Ether before. I feel your pain.

OOC:
I hate web based email. I spent a good half hour on a post the other day
before the window just blinked away into nothingness! That post went a little
something like this!

...

RPG:

Standing on the ledge it was possible to see over almost the entire city. It
was a disturbing view, a once beautiful and culturally rich world was reduced
to rubble and chaos. Monuments destroyed, sacred places eternally ruined, and
the peoples' identity and spirit.

It had been decided to set up the medical triage camp on the outskirts of the
city. Although not the most efficient way of providing care at the point of
need, it was the most practical. Desperate people did desperate things, any
closer and the team would likely have been mobbed and the supplies pillaged.

Jaav turned around, turning his back on the distant view to face the final of
the three large standard triage domes. A team of technicians were putting the
last of the support struts in place on the large, blue, reinforced, tent-like
structure. Jaav made his way into the largest, main dome.

Most of the Vanguard's Medical complement were planet-side, with the key
exception of Chief Medical Officer Xristha Droin, who had one or two things
left to handle onboard the ship and taken the decision to leave Jaav to keep
his keen eye on the Triage team proceedings.

"Anyword from Dr. Droin?" Jaav called over to the Head Nurse.

"She checked in with us about a half hour ago Jaav, she should be with us
shortly," Jaav was pleased, the sooner Xristha arrived the better, as a senior
member of the Vanguard's medical team he was required to have a firm grasp of
first aid and emergency triage medicine, but he was not in the traditional
sense a medic. He was anxious. The Head Nurse continued to go about her
business, checking the equipment trays, performing inventories, and tending to
the few cuts, scrapes and bruises that had already begun to trickle in through
the entrance.

Eager for something to do, anything to stop himself feeling like a spare part,
Jaav began calibrating the batch of medical tricorders that had been dragged
out of storage especially for this mission. They were slightly bulkier, and
slightly less sophisticated than the top-of-the-line models normally used by
the Vanguard's crew, but they were the familiar shape, size, and they did the
job.

He was waving the last of the tricorders in front of one of the control
cylinders when he felt a very cold pair of hands over his eyes.

"Guess who"Jaav stood still for a moment,

"Fleet Admiral Alyanna Necheyev?"Jaav said sarcastically.

"You always spoil it,"Zena said as she spun Jaav around to face her. "How are
things down here?"

"Slow, thankfully, I wish I could fool myself into thinking this is the worst
of it, but it's a little difficult with the view outside." Jaav realised that
he wasn't helping, the crew needed to maintain high spirits, even if they were
superficial.

"I'm sorry. What brings you to this neck of the woods?" He asked placing a hand
gently on Zena's shoulder and tickling her cheek.

"I was looking for Jazz actually, we heard reports that the water supply may
have been contaminated with a modified bacteriological agent before the
attackers left and I wanted her help with an analysis."

"I'll letyou know if I see her around, it sounds terrible." Jaav gestured for
more.

"It's awful"Zenabegan, "That these people not only have to suffer like they are
doing, but that anybody would want to stunt their recovery even after they've
left. I'll never understand war, not like this."
