Hi everyone, Like Ali I was out tonight looking at moths. Had a pretty good night, though not too much diversity. I set up my moth sheet and created a moth bait (banana and brown sugar mix) post near the sheet, in the hopes of attracting something good. But unfortunately nothing came to feed on the bait, except for an opossum or raccoon. The sheet however was very productive. I had seven phigalia-like species and one Half-wing on the sheet, the latter of which was a lifer. I also had a very colorful phigalia like species near our pillar lights. I also had a sallow early on that was not a Straight-toothed, but it did not land. But the best find was not outside but rather in my garage. Before I walked inside I noticed a moth flying around the garage. I waited for it to land and then took some photos. I knew it was something good because I had never seen it before. It turned out to be a Wanton Pinion, Lithophane petulca. An awesome find for me and a lifer. I have also attached some photos of some of the moths I saw. I am not sure if all the 'phigalias' are toothed. Are any of them Small Phigalias or Half-wings? DSC 057 is the Half-wing I had on the sheet. Thank you very much, and happy mothing!
