Oh ok, thanks, i know it’s too late now. I pondered it but just didn’t do
it. I know I can buy the materials, maybe I will since we do have so many
wild bees here.  Which station did you recommend for wild bees?

Thanks

Janet

Yes, honey bees do live longer.....but most species only live 30-60 days.

Bee keeping doesn't have to be as labor intensive as I have made it. I
choose to raise my own bees here, and I choose to harvest the cocoons to
help ensure that the maximum number of babies survive. Some folks just buy
the materials and see if native wild bees will come along and nest, others
buy bees and start their colonies that way, some "rent" bees where the
company will send you the bee house, and everything you need, along with
the bees, and then provide you with a postage paid box to send it all back
at the end of the season.....and some folks raise bees and leave the bee
house intact as is outside all winter long, allowing the bees to basically
take care of themselves. There is little to no work involved in some of
those scenarios.

Laura, Oh, I thought the bees had longer  life spans, but obviously I don’t
know about Mason bees, for the honey bees I read the queen can live for
years and the drones almost two months, workers can live up to 4 to6
months, but that’s the honey bee, that isn’t very long.

I am glad the little one is with you,  I was gonna do this but I just
don’t have the energy to do it. Maybe next year.

Love, Janet

Janet, the average life span of a bee is only 4-8 weeks, depending on the
species. At best, he'd make it till the end of December, and that's
providing nothing is wrong with him.

all the cocoons. I gave him some sugar water and ground up bee pollen for
tonight and he is drinking a lot right now. Poor thing, he wouldn't survive
if I put him outside.  [image: 🙁] I will have to scrounge for whatever
