I've tried this, and always get errors when untaring, then further errors
when entering the buildroot. Is there someone out there who could do this for
me?
mh, your file system is ext2/3 ?

did you try it this way ?
the build env size is unpacked about 530 mb ... so it will be difficult to
upload unpacked
