When I start it, I get the following output after the greating:
Starting...

Found existing Ecasound server on port 2868
Creating socket on port 2868.
Regenerating effects data cache
gverb: effect not found, cannot create shortcut
reading user customization file /home/lrs/nama/customize.pl
Does the `gverb: effect not found, cannot create shortcut' indicate an error?
I created a test project and imported an wav file. When I press space to play,
I can't hear anything. The command `ecasound <filename>.wav' sounds correctly.
Any ideas?

reasonable way forward.
Just to let you know, there is also a tool called local::lib to
install CPAN modules in user directory without root
permissions.
