NAL Members - The precursor agency of the present day NASA was the NACA (National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics) and was founded in early March, 1915. The 100th anniversary of NACA is coming up shortly and there will be a big celebration in Washington at the Smithsonian on March 3. We have previously sent you information about the Washington event. I have also contacted Michael Kincaid, the JSC Director of Community Relations and asked about the JSC plan (if any) to celebrate the NACA century anniversary and offered the assistance of our NAL chapter in any activity JSC is planning. JSC is apparently interested and is moving forward to create a plan but I do not have any details for you at this time. However, I would like your help in identifying NACA veterans who are still with us, who reside in our area and who should be recognized for their NACA service and invited to the event that JSC organizes. Our NAL chapter has identified several who fit this category, but I don't want to miss anyone. Would you please email me with your recollection of NACA vets we should include? I appreciate your help!
