Rogers gave a possible clue as to the launch timing of the next iPhone by
reviving its 6GB data plan. The $30 monthly plan gives six times the usual
bandwidth for a smartphone for the same money. It qualifies for the Canadian
carrier's data sharing plans for an extra $10 per month to give a tablet,
modem, hotspot or other device access to the same pool of data.

The 6GB core plan needs a three-year contract with voice but isn't tied to any
one device.

The plan is available until September 30 and, in doing so, might have given a
clue as to Apple's plans for the iPhone in the country. Rogers originally
created the 6GB plan to assuage iPhone 3G buyers who were angered at the low
caps they faced at the time. Since then, the provider has brought it back each
summer and always in a timeframe that would cover at least some of an iPhone
launch.

Some recent tips have had the next iPhone arriving in October. Others, though,
still show September. If the September schedule is true, Canada may go back to
simultaneous launches with the US after being made to wait weeks for the iPhone
4.
