The new Tiger store might have a better selection. The only way to test one is to put in a known good drive. I bought my last enclosure at Factorydirect for $19 and it's been working continuously for 8 months. I spent the extra money on the LaCie it replaced expecting better durability, but was disappointed.

Thanks for the response! I think the drive is ok I replace it with a 320 but still have the same problem. Disk utility sees it but it doesn't mount. I bought the 320 in town with the understanding that it can't be returned, only exchanged if it is defective. I have a couple of other enclosures so I will try it in there. I really like the looks of the d2 enclosure and would be willing to buy new electronics for it but don't know were to buy them or if they are even available.

How do you test an enclosure?

Bigger drive should be OK, but test the enclosure first.... I had a Lacie enclosure die on me recently.
