Nothing to do with iDVD this time!! An interesting problem to which I don't know if anyone has an answer! I borrowed some DVDs from the London Library and wished to make some screen caps from the second of two disks. I started making some using VLC and Grab; one can't use Grab with DVD Player! I made quite a few screencaps on the Saturday evening without any problem; when I came to get some more on Sunday, I could not get VLC to work with the DVD - it would not open! I then tried using DVD Player and could not get it to work reliably either - might work after waiting a long time with the 'coloured ball' running for several minutes rather than the almost instant start up! I wondered if a fault had occurred in the two programmes, but they both worked fine with the other disk (of the pair) and also another completely different disk!! I then wondered if I had somehow damaged the second disk, but it worked perfectly on a regular DVD player! So it seemed that both progammes are working all right and that the disk itself is all right!! The only other thing I thought was that some preference bit associated with the particular disk was stored somewhere (for both programmes!!) though why I don't know?? I even tried reloading VLC without any effect! I believe I even cleared the cache in case it was there? Of course I suppose the programmes could have their own caches but why both should get corrupted? Does anyone know if there is a place where such information would be stored so that I can delete it and try again? Or suggest anything else! It does seem a bit odd as to why it should store information pertaining to a particular disk! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
