[mso] ''word'' and office

After installing office 2000 back into my 'puter after a fresh install of xp
every time i go to open up anything i have done in word a small window comes up
with windows installer and preparing to install and please wait while office
configures your computer.The blue line goes across twice and my document opens
up.Did I by chance install office improperly or ???
