Hi using excel 2003

Have a column with dates , and two additional columns with a 1 next to
date if in attendance

Max no of attendances are recorded in a different column

What I want to do is write a formula like

If (date 1 >= 01/12/2007 and date 2 <= 03/04-2008, sum (column th
attendances in) / max no of attendances expressed as a percentage

Not sure how to do the if statement
