Sorry, Ken...I can't tell you why the data key in the registry gets corrupt
so often (nor why normal.dot gets corrupt so often either)....personally,
neither of them have ever gotten corrupt on me, but well over half the
troubleshooting I do with Word involves corrupt data keys and normal.dot, so
I know it happens a LOT...but unfortunately, I've never really seen any
similarities in the cases where it becomes corrupt so I can't even guess as
to why. Possibly becuz corruption is generally involved with formatting,
but that's just a guess. I must say that I use a lot of programs that
handle a lot more formatting than Word and none of their parts get corrupt
as often as Word's parts.

Glad it fixed it for you, though.

The registry edit did the trick. If you have an explanation on why the data
key file was corrupt I would be interested. Many thanks for the info.
