[mso] Word field codes

I want to write a formula for merges in Word 2000 that does something like
this (which I can do in Excel and Access)
If SSN is null, use ID otherwise, SSN
The problem I'm having is with the Is Null part and Word Help has been no
help at all!
{IF {MERGEFIELD SSN} IS NULL {MERGEFIELD ID}, {MERGEFIELD SSN}"}
