[mso] Word 97 Spell Checker?

Hi Group,
I installed office 97 on my daughter's computer. She finished a school paper
and I asked her if she used the spell check to check over and fix any typos and
grammer errors. She said it wasn't working and sure enough it isn't. It's
actually greyed out. I tried clicking on the assistant to get help. I didn't
get the box that you type in to ask a question. Basically what I'm asking is
if word is corrupt, do I need to uninstall and do another installation or can
this problem be easily corrected?
