wow...you must be an optimist James!

I've always said anyone who can read and follow directions can do
anything...that's already been done. I've done "Hello World" in 5 or 6
different "languages" I fall apart though with the explanations of why
and how "Hello World" works.=20

It's like arts and crafts (guys, please forgive this (sadly) mostly
feminine analogy). I've been complimented many times for creating
wonderful works of art. To give myself credit, I do a good job on
whatever I tackle. What people don't realize is that I didn't create
anything, I only mimicked someone else's work. I read the directions
and followed them. I'm an excellent cook and have friends who request
particular dishes whenever there's a pot luck kind of thing. Again,
reading and following directions. I have no recipes I've invented but a
marvelous collection of other peoples creativity. Can you say copy cat
anyone?

I worked some with SQL and got to the point I could "think" out a
problem and visualize how to get an answer. Then it was just a matter of
finding the SQL equivalent to what was in my head. There is, of course,
a limit to how far one can go like that though. I decided a few months
ago to learn VBA because so much of what I do can benefit from it. I
bought a SAMs book, learn VBA in 24 hours...something like that but I
haven't yet taken the time to work through the exercises.=20

In my next life, I want to live on a planet where there are 36 hours in
a day and you only need 2 hours sleep a month.

'Wild Leaps of Imagination' -=20

Glenda,

I would be willing to bet this is exactly why they keep you around. The
fact that you have to struggle through learning new things can also be
viewed as an asset. You aren't limited by what you 'know'. You can
look at the problem and say, 'I wonder how I can make it do that'. Many
people without drive or imagination sit there and do what they know and
don't grow, don't push the boundaries and never even make the suggestion
based on the idea that this application would be even better if it
could.... =20
