Sorry, James. Word fields, unlike Access, don't recognise LIKE as an operator. Ray _____________ This email is from Ray Blake, Head of Software Design, GR Business Process Solutions. Ray pretty much has it but usually when you use Wild cards, (at least in Access) you need to use Like or Not Like instead of the = or <>. If you make that change I believe it will work. In Word, I created a mergefield EXACTLY as Ray's, including spacing. In Excel, I created a worksheet with 2 columns. Column 1 Name contains 4 records: Blue, Red, Rose, Daisy Column 2 Address contains 4 records: berry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, irish@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, 123-456-7890, (321)-654-0987 The desired result is 2 records: Rose --- 123-456-7890, Daisy --- (321)-654-0987 The actual result is 2 records: Red --- irish@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Daisy --- (321)-654-0987 Is this bizarre or is it just me? For some reason it's skipping every other record and ignoring the not like request. Maybe like and not like can't work in a merge field? /g -----Original Message----- From: Ray Blake [mailto:ray@xxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Sunday, October 05, 2003 1:31 PM To: mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [mso] Re: Word Form IF Statement...Maybe? I've got it! My merge file has two fields, one called Name, which contains... well, a name, and another called Address, which contains either a phone number or an email address. The following suppresses all NON email addresses from the merge: {nextif{MERGEFIELD "Address"} <> "*@*"}{MERGEFIELD "Name"} --- {MERGERFIELD "Address"} Evidently, it is important that the '<>' has a space either side of it. This worked for me. _____________ This email is from Ray Blake, Head of Software Design, GR Business Process Solutions. It is confidential and intended for the addressee only.
