Well...I can't be sure. But it's either due to the fact that this might now
have worked correctly in 2002???...or due to the RE in this group coming
AFTER the subject info???? The other groups that list it in front work, as I
mentioned in another post.

I have OL 2002 and when I do this, it groups them by subject, but it doesn't
ignore the RE:, they are grouped as a separate subject. What am I doing
wrong?

Subject: [mso] Sorting posts by subject - solution

Hi folks...

Yeah, I've been very busy rolling out a client upgrade and doing
training...as well as trying to get a grip on being a road warrior after two
years of sitting on my butt while directing tech traffic!<g> So it's been an
adventure!

Anyway...I was just sorting the tons of posts from this week in
Outlook...when it dawned on me that I was doing something that I believe
someone had once asked about. Don't know if there was ever an answer...so
here's one.

Problem:

If you attempt to sort all the posts in Outlook (or any
email) by SUBJECT by clicking on the subject column button at the top of via
the View ....(depending on version, next menu)...Sort/by Subject...they will
get mixed up cos' an email with the subject of:

My Problem

...will not be sorted in the same alpha order as one with the subject of

RE: My Problem

To fix this...click View (versions have different items here, I
believe)...but move to the CUSTOM view. Then click on GROUP and GROUP by
Subject...rather than using the group default of auto group and then using
SORT by subject.

When you GROUP them...the one with and without the RE and FORWARD are
ignored and the subject text itself will be grouped. This will help you keep
the question with the subsequent answers.

Hope this helps someone out there!

Cheers...
