In PowerPoint 2000 we encountered a strange phenomenon today. On some (but not all) .ppt files, including blank new ones we created, we were unable to access the Title Master - the option was greyed out. I could add a Title slide and go to Master view in order to insert a graphic on the Slide Master but it would appear on the title slide as well. It was only when I added a style that we were able to make it behave as expected. Office is fully installed on each machine and the styles are in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates folder. Any templates created by a user are stored in the profile (which is a mandatory one). The behaviour was the same on at least 3 machines with 3 different users. The student who reported the problem said that he had encountered the same behaviour on his machine at home, running Office XP. I have just tried to duplicate the problem in Office 2003, but I find that the menuing is rather different. Is this perhaps something to do with a default template which has been replaced or corrupted - it would seem strange that it is evident on several machines using several different users' profiles. Does anyone have any suggestions?
