John, create another text box to overlap the first text box slightly. Then
create custom animation in the order that you want the animation fades to
occur. So the answer is no, not exactly, but pretty close! Please note I'm
speaking about PowerPoint 2003. I'm not sure if the older versions of
PowerPoint will do that. What version of PowerPoint are you using?

Is there a way in PowerPoint to have text fade out and then be replaced with
different text that fades into the exact same location. I can animate the
fade out, but I have not found how to animate it so different text fades
into its place. Any help would be appreciated.
